Phix (Celebrating the Music of Phish) is/was a band formed in Boulder, Colorado during the “dark years” of Phish, beginning during the hiatus of 2001 and continuing through their “retirement.” Phix’s own well-timed “retirement” came in 2008, just months before Phish announced their reunion shows in Hampton, VA in March of 2009.
It’s quite likely that Phix will play again some day, although we have nothing planned at the moment (largely because actual PHISH is out there kicking ass these days). We remain friends, and some of us continue to play together in other projects.
Paul Murin (guitar), Chris Sheldon (drums), and Brian Adams (bass) continue to play regularly with the Deadphish Orchestra, merging the music of the Grateful Dead and Phish. Though it’s primarily a Colorado-based project, DPO does occasionally make trips elsewhere in the U.S. Visit their website for show dates, recordings, etc.
Brian Adams (bass) also continues to play with Great American Taxi and several other projects based in Colorado.
Derek Berg (keys) is raising his family in the Chicago area, and running the Clarendon Hills Music Academy.
